Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Premier League star Craig Noone worked as a roofer on Steven Gerrard's extension in 2008 whilst playing non-league.Now shining in the A-League at Melbourne City, Noone enjoyed a six-month spell in the English top-flight with Cardiff City after rising through the ranks as an amateur footballer.On the books at boyhood club Liverpool until he was 15, Noone joined up with Wrexham upon release from the Reds but only lasted 12 months in north Wales before being let go once again.

It was at this time that Noone was training as a roofer, almost giving up on his dream of turning professional while turning out for non-league sides Skelmersdale United, Burscough and Southport.Working part-time, Noone received an unlikely call to say his firm would be working on an extension for Liverpool captain Gerrard who was paying for a conversion."He was getting a gym and a games room built on the back of his house and we did the roof and the panels on the side," Noone told The Daily Express."My boss picked me up one morning at 7am and said, ‘We’re working on Steven Gerrard’s house today’.

I didn’t believe him, but when we got there I recognised it from the papers."We were working there for a month, but I didn’t get to see him.
