A family plunged at "terrifying speed" backwards round a ferris wheel when it malfunctioned. Samantha McGovern says her daughter was crying and screaming as the 33 metre Dundee wheel in Slessor Gardens began to move in the opposite direction.
The 34-year-old and kids Kaydee, 11, and Tyelor, 13, said they were trapped for over an hour on Tuesday 13 October, the Daily Record reported.
Samantha said: “At that point I actually wondered if we would get off in one piece – it crossed my mind that we could die.” When staff managed to get the ferris wheel working again, passengers had to be helped off when their carriages reached the bottom as the carts did not stop ccompletely.
