Lockerbie bombing will today begin an appeal bid to clear his name.Lawyers for Abdelbaset al-Megrahi’s relatives want judges to let them review secret files being withheld by the UK Government after more than three decades.The appeal will get underway after the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission (SCCRC) referred the case to the High Court in March, ruling a possible miscarriage of justice may have occurred.Aamer Anwar, the solicitor who made the SCCRC application on behalf of Megrahi’s family, said the legal team wanted to see “certain documents over which public interest immunity has been asserted”.He added that such a defence cannot be “everlasting”.The bombing of Pan Am flight 103, travelling from London to New York on December.
