Darts star Gerwyn Price admits his mind still “isn’t right” as he looks to get on track after playing on with a broken hand.The former world champion has been struggling with the injury in recent weeks, having been initially told there was no break.

However, after seeking a second opinion, a break was discovered, which he admits threw him off course mentally and left him fighting “demons” in his head.Price says the situation is improving, but still isn’t perfect and he intends to manage his workload over the summer to make sure he is in peak shape for the second half of the year leading big events like the World Matchplay, World Grand Prix and World Championships. “I knew I was struggling with my hand but they told me it wasn’t broken so ploughed on and I was playing fine,” Price told Online Darts TV. “I went for a second opinion, back for another X-ray, they told me it was broke.

As soon as I knew that, it was like demons in my head, ‘my hand’s broke, I need to take time off, do I still need to keep playing?’ I just didn’t know what to do. “I kept thinking every time I was throwing I was injuring my hand.

The hardest part of this game is the top two inches, throwing darts is easy, it’s the way you’re thinking about everything. When my mind’s not right, my darts don’t go right.
