Eddie Jones last night agreed to a request from his employers to take a pay cut “in excess” of 25 per cent. The Red Rose boss reputedly receives £750,000 year but with rugby in shutdown, Rugby Football Union bosses have joined Premiership stars in taking 25 per cent salary reductions.
RFU chief executive Bill Sweeney said: “Eddie is overseas at present and when I contacted him regarding our Executive pay reduction proposals he immediately agreed.” As Twickenham further revealed that it is in consultation with Jones’ wider coaching team about a temporary three-month pay cut, Saracens’ England star George Kruis said he had taken his on the chin - describing it as “pretty fair”.
