Emmerdale will overlap in terms of airtime. The new schedule changes will begin today, Monday March 7, so you'll want to take note.The big soaps never usually overlap, but now the battle is on as two of the hit shows will be in direct competition.EastEnders and Emmerdale are both scheduled to air at the same time.

Here's everything you need to know, including the new dates and air times.Emmerdale has moved to a 7.30pm slot every weekday on ITV, from its usual 7pm time.Coronation Street has moved to hour-long episodes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.Meanwhile, EastEnders will air on BBC One on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm as usual.Traditionally, Emmerdale has air on ITV weeknights from 7pm, while Corrie aired Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.On the Mondays and Wednesdays ITV would usually air two episodes of Corrie, one at 7.30pm and one at 8.30pm.

On Fridays it would show a one hour episode at 7.30pm.However, due to ITV wanting to focus more on reporting outside of London, the evening news programme will be extended to an hour, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.Speaking about the schedule shake-up, John Whiston, ITV's Managing Director of Continuing Drama, told The Mirror: "With Coronation Street bursting at the seams with fantastic story and character, the new format gives the show a brilliant new canvas on which to shine.
