drunken yob downed 18 cans of cider and torched a cafe owner's car in a shocking revenge attack. Philip Osbourne, 37, cycled to the home of his partner's former boss and set fire to the Volkswagen Polo after she had terminated her employment a few weeks earlier, reports StokeonTrent Live.

Stoke Crown Court heard the Pitts Hill resident took a used a lighter to start the fire on a piece of paper before placing it under the front tyre and riding home.READ NEXT: Pensioner, 70, spared jail despite 'pack of animals' brawl on footpathProsecutor Antonie Muller said the defendant's partner worked for the victim in her cafe but was 'let go' from her employment in October.

Mr Muller said: "At 1am on November 14 the defendant went to the cafe owner's house and set fire to her car parked outside her home."He was caught on CCTV riding away on his bicycle and was seen to light something and put it under the front nearside of the car."The Volkswagen Polo, valued at £8,788.76, had to be written off.

A victim statement from the woman recalled how she saw blue flashing lights and her partner looked out and told her that her car was on fire.
