We have bad news for the millions of fans of BBC One drama ­Doctor Foster. There will not be a third series. Leading actress Suranne Jones – who played Dr Gemma Foster in the show – has finally admitted she won’t be reprising the role.

Asked if the door was now closed on the show, she tells Radio Times: “Yes. I haven’t said that before in ­interviews, as I tend to say ‘Who knows?’ “I loved it, I love writer Mike Bartlett, “I love the producers Drama Republic.

Series one was amazing, series two, equally, peaked at nearly 10 million viewers and pushed in crazy directions. But I think Gemma’s done.” Her news will be a huge disappointment to viewers.
