Doctor Who legend Stewart Bevan has died at the age of 93 as emotional tribute to the late star flood in.The beloved actor played the memorable role of Professor Clifford Jones in six episodes of the popular BBC One sci-fi show alongside Jon Pertwee's third rendition of the Doctor in 1973.

During the 10th series of the show, Stewart played the role of the loveable Welsh biologist who helped the Doctor to save the world against an evil oil plant.His tragic death was confirmed by ex-partner and co-star Katy Manning - who was cast in the role of the Doctor's companion, Jo Grant - on Monday (21 February) as she shared a touching tribute to him online.

She shared the sad news on Twitter, saying: "The most beautiful man poet actor screenwriter husband & father to @CoralBevan @Misswendybevan went on his awfully big adventure. "He was the love of my life for many years on and off screen & our wonderful friendship continued to the end." And loyal sci-fi fans were quick to share their condolences to the family on social media as they flooded to her comments section with emotional tributes.

One user penned: "So sad to hear about Steward Bevan! Clearly such a wonderful man, and so proud to be a part of #DoctorWho!" Another fan of the show added: "So sorry to hear that Stewart Bevan, Professor Jones himself has passed away. "Stewart was a very fine actor and an amazingly lovely person to meet." A third Doctor Who fan chimed in with: "Stewart Bevan played one of the most memorable one-off characters in Dr Who history (as well as appearing in you Secret Arms and Public Eyes) and by all accounts was a lovely chap too.
