A gripping new horror film made for less than $1,000 is proving to be a social media sensation, racking up over 600,000 views on YouTube and sparking rave reviews from TikTokers.
The 62-minute short film, Milk & Serial, was made for a mere $800 and is currently free to watch on YouTube. Filmmaker Curry Barker skilfully adopted a found footage style to enhance the chilling effects and minimise budget constraints.
The gripping plot summary reads: "When a surprise birthday prank goes terribly wrong, two social media influencers must face the devastating consequences that come after." A talent to watch, Barker not only penned and helmed Milk & Serial but he also took on the roles of editor, cinematographer and composer.
The cast features non-professional actors including Cooper Tomlinson, Adlih Torres, Sterling L. Pope, Jonnathan Cripple, Gloria Karel, John Simmonds, Paul Santoli and Rob Harrow, reports the Mirror.
