DAVID and Victoria Beckham are beefing up security at their £6m Cotswolds retreat after their London property was burgled earlier this year.
The pair have applied to the local council to build an additional security building at their converted barns home. They've already got 24-hour security and gatehouse, but want to create new Fort Knox-style measures after they were robbed while sleeping at their London £31.5 million mansion in February.
The gatehouse is at the entrance to the property, while the new security building will be in the north part of the estate complete with a bathroom and storage facilities.
In June 2020, the couple won approval for the gatehouse despite local complaints with one writing to the council to say: “Farms and agricultural buildings do not have gatehouses and security huts.” While another said it was “totally out of keeping” for the idyllic rural area.
