Couple must pull down £10,000 summerhouse as planners say it's 1 metre too high

A heartbroken couple face having to tear down their dream summerhouse after village planners ruled it was one metre too high.

Amjad Butt, 70, and his 65-year-old wife Tina splashed out £10,000 last year on the luxurious timber building in their garden in Iris Close, Bournville, Birmingham.

But they have now been told the summerhouse contravenes local planning restrictions of the Bournville Village Trust as, at three metres tall, it is one metre too high.

The couple now face having to take down the building - which they claim adheres to national planning laws - or radically slash its height and design.
