Cast your minds back to 2011 and Contagion, a movie all about how a deadly pandemic swept across the world, hit the big screen.
Fast forward nine years and that deadly pandemic has now become a harsh reality in the form of coronavirus. At the time of writing, there have been over 510,600 confirmed cases of Covid-19 worldwide and over 23,000 deaths.
Those figures are continuing to rise and many countries are now in lockdown to try and control the spread of the flu-like virus.
Scenes that we once watched while chowing down on our popcorn are now playing out in real time, with even one of Contagion’s scientific advisors, Ian Lipkin, in a cruel twist of fate testing positive for coronavirus.
