Clara McGregor, daughter of Ewan McGregor, and indie producer Black Magic are set to adapt Goddess, a novel about a swashbuckling femaleopera singer from 17th century Versailles.
McGregor's Deux Dames Entertainment and Greg Lauritano's Black Magic optioned the historical female fencing novel and plan a limited series with a showrunner yet to be attached to the project.
Kelly Gardiner's book fictionalizes the true life of feisty Julie d’Aubigny, known as Mademoiselle de Maupin, a bisexual star of Louis IV's court and the Paris Opera who took lovers from among Europe’s most powerful men and women.
