Chelsea could be kicked out of the Premier League next season should their takeover fall through.The Blues' takeover could be in doubt after Roman Abramovich demanded £1.6billion he loaned to the club to be repaid as part of the sale.
Abramovich had made the loan to the club through an investment vehicle, and he had originally said he didn't want the money back.However, the Blues have changed their stance, and have requested the debt 'owed' to Abramovich should be sent as part of the proceeds of sale to Jersey-based Camberley International Investment.
And Chelsea's new stance could collapse the takeover.Abramovich isn't named on any financial listings of the Channel Islands firm, but it is believed he's linked to the company.Should the takeover go through, it could mean Abramovich would be able to bank some money from the sale.
And with the sanctions against the Russian oligarch, ministers have made it clear that they will not accept Abramovich benefitting from the sale.
