Mauritian jockey Nooresh Juglall has died at the age of 29 after a mid-race fall at the Champs de Mars on Saturday. Juglall, who was crowned the champion jockey in Mauritius last season, was riding Rule The Night, and was rounding the bend for the home straight when he fell.

He hit the ground with a heavy impact and another horse nearby also stumbled and appeared to land on top of him. Juglall was immediately rushed to hospital 'bleeding profusely' before he fell into a coma and tragically passed away.

Tributes have been paid from a number of high-profile figures in the world of racing, including Irish jockey Oisin Murphy, who posted on Twitter : "Rest in peace Nooresh Juglall.
