A bus driver lost a tooth following an unprovoked attack in Wigan . Police have launched an investigation into the assault, which happened onboard a Diamond North West bus in the Atherton area on Wednesday (April 5).

The incident led to the cancellation of the 132 service this morning. GMP have since released an image of a man they wish to speak to.

In a statement, the force said: “We need help identifying this hooded man after a bus driver was assaulted in Atherton early this morning.

The unprovoked attack saw the driver lose a tooth and we're keen to speak to the man pictured.” A spokesman for Diamond North West said: “We can confirm that a driver was physically assaulted this morning.
