tensions between the UK and Russia continue to rise, Vladimir Putin's government has announced that it is sanctioning nearly 300 British MPs.But, embarrassingly for the Russian leader, his list is somewhat out of date – featuring a number of politians who haven’t been MPs for several years.
According to an announcement from Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was imposing “personal restrictions” on the 287 members of the House of Commons.who “took the most active part” in triggering sanctions against Russia over the Ukraine War.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has reportedly described being sanctioned by Putin as “a badge of honour” and former minister Mark Harper said he was “proud” to see his name on the list.
Mr Harper, a former Chief Whip under Theresa May, added: “Russia really hates being called out for their illegal invasion of Ukraine and disgraceful war crimes.
