A British man has died while swimming in the sea at the Costa Blanca in Spain. The 74-year-old is said to have lost consciousness while he was in the water at a beach next to Moraira Castle called La Ampolla Beach, the Mirror reports.
Lifeguards tried to revive him after bringing him onto the beach, before paramedics reached the scene and continued to practice CPR.

It was not immediately clear if the dead man was on holiday or lives in the area. A routine investigation is underway. The results of the post-mortem, thought to have been carried out over the weekend, have not been made public.
