The British Horseracing Authority's new chief executive is former board member and Uttoxeter managing director Julie Harrington.

She will take over the post at the beginning of 2021 from Nick Rust, after nearly four years leading British Cycling. It has more than 160,000 grassroots members and is responsible for the elite team preparing for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.

Harrington was a senior executive with Northern Racing for eight years, when she led Uttoxeter Racecourse. Her role at British Cycling has involved engagement with UK Sport and Sport England over elite funding and growing participation, achieving its target for more than two million cyclists by 2020.
