Theresa de Villiers, the wife of former South Africa national rugby union team coach Peter de Villiers, was found dead in a swimming pool by family members on Monday.Theresa is thought to have been visiting relatives in Gqeberha, formerly known as Port Elizabeth, with the tragedy coming less than three years after the couple lost their daughter Odille Monk to cancer at the age of just 28.Theresa, 62, was declared dead by emergency workers following their arrival at the scene, with Peter, who wasn't present, left "unable to talk about what had happened".
A police investigation has now begun.A statement from local police has said that the death was caused by a suspected drowning, with the circumstances now being looked into.Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said: "The deceased is from Paarl but was visiting family in Gqeberha."She was found in the pool by a family member.
