Arsenal fans have seen the best of Martin Odegaard following his permanent move from Real Madrid last summer - having missed out on a tip about the Norway star during his time as a teenager at Stromsgodset.
Odegaard began his senior club career at the age of just 15 and became the Tippeligaen's youngest ever goalscorer before signing a deal worth around £3million with the Spanish giants.Following time with Real Madrid Castilla and loans at Heerenveen, Vitesse and Real Sociedad, the Norway skipper found a home away from home at the Emirates - which could've been the case years earlier.Bjorn Furuheim, who spent years as head of the supporters’ group Arsenal Norway is also head of security for Stromsgodset, where he watched a young Odegaard making his way through the ranks.
Furuheim told The Athletic this week: "When Martin was 14 and started training with the first team, given my relations to Arsenal, I tried to call someone at the club to make a recommendation. 'You have to see the guy, he is so young, so good…' "I had Paul Davis' number, from when some legends used to come to Arsenal Norway.
I said, 'You have to tell someone at the club about Martin'." HAVE YOUR SAY! Will Arsenal be playing in the Champions League next season?
