The 23-year-old has been brilliant for Villarreal this season after returning from a loan spell at Malaga. The Gunners were considering a January swoop for the Spaniard before agreeing a £4.2million loan deal for Flamengo defender Pablo Mari.
Torres has a £43m release clause in his new contract but it is believed he remains on Mikel Arteta’s wanted list. And the player himself has hinted at a potential move to the Premier League by revealing that he’s been learning English to pass the time amid the coronavirus lockdown.
