Arsenal have had an impact on the decision to allow Paulo Dybala to run down his contract at Juventus. The Gunners tried their best to convince Dusan Vlahovic that his future was best served in north London while he was scoring goals for fun at Fiorentina.

But the Serbia international snubbed interest from Mikel Arteta to move to division rivals Juventus in a blockbuster £67million deal.

That is despite the fact that star man Dybala has a contract that will expire in the summer. Once upon a time, it would have been incomprehensible to believe that the Serie A giants would allow such an important player to leave for nothing. But that is exactly the scenario that will go ahead at the end of the season after a failed meeting on Monday.

Dybala’s representatives met with Juventus chiefs to try and thrash an agreement but neither party could come to a compromise.Juve CEO Maurizio Arrivabene has since revealed that part of the decision to allow the Argentina international to run down his deal was because of Vlahovic’s arrival in January.
