France boss starstruck by William Saliba as Arsenal ace reports for international duty

The Gunners loanee is still yet to make his debut at the Emirates Stadium but after a fine stint in the south of France, Mikel Arteta is already expected to offer him a new contract.But Arteta isn't the only boss full of affection for Saliba.
Deschamps appeared starstruck when meeting the young defender for the first time. Saliba received a firm handshake, a pat on the stomach and a rub of his shoulder from the France manager after checking into the national base at Clairefontaine.And with the World Cup just around the corner, it might not be the worst sign for his hopes of making Les Blues' 26-man squad.
The France national side is blessed with an array of defensive talent, including past Jules Rimet winners.Raphael Varane, Presnel Kimpembe and Samuel Umtiti are all still yet to reach 30 after triumphing in Russia four years ago and Saliba was only called up to the squad this time around due to a positive Covid-19 test for Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard.
