Antiques Roadshow was staggered when they were told a necklace they bought at auction for £2,000 was easily worth fives times the hefty sum.In the episode, filmed at Enfield's Forty Hall and originally aired in March this year, John Benjamin was fascinated by a gold necklace and a cross pendant made up of dozens of white diamonds.He said the cross was "very Edwardian" but thought the "punchy and confident" necklace was probably made in the 1970s.The guest revealed they bought both items at auction, with the cross being nabbed for £1,200 and the necklace sold for £2,000.She explained the necklace was simply valued for the "weight of the gold" rather than the merits of the design, which was instantly recognisable as a Garrard's necklace.
