All-inclusive hotel closing after coronavirus outbreak on Spain holiday island

A hotel in Majorca at the centre of a coronavirus outbreak has announced it is shutting on Sunday. Ten hotel workers at the Iberostar Club Cala Barca near Porto Petro have tested positive for coronavirus, along with four of their relatives.

No tourists staying at the hotel have tested positive. The four-star hotel is the first in Majorca to close because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hotel chiefs said they were taking the decision for reasons of “caution and responsibility.” Nearly 200 tests have been carried out on staff after news of the outbreak emerged last Thursday.
