Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.

In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Ralf Rangnick. United suffered another blow to their Champions League hopes after losing 1-0 at Everton on Saturday while recent reports suggest Ronaldo could seek a move away from the club in the summer in order to help him win another Ballon d'Or before his career ends as well as adding more silverware to his trophy cabinet.

That would leave United needing to replace club legend Ronaldo's goals and creativity in their starting XI. Here, Daily Star Sport has taken a look at 11 players who idolised Ronaldo growing up – and who could help fill the void if he does decide to move on when the transfer window opens.

Bruno Fernandes was deployed as a striker by interim manager Ralf Rangnick in the recent 1-1 draw with Leicester City which Ronaldo sat out through injury.Although not normally his natural position, Fernandes started the game leading the line, although he failed to do anything to suggest he could make the role his own.

Fernandes has previously revealed Ronaldo was his "idol" as a youngster and his creativity and attacking threat could certainly help fill the void that would be left by Ronaldo's departure.
