A brave woman who became the first person in the US to receive a face transplant after her husband shot her in a failed murder-suicide has died aged 57.
Connie Culp, from Ohio, received the "miracle" operation in 2008 after her husband Thomas Culp shot her at point-blank range and left her horribly disfigured.
The Cleveland Clinic, where Connie received the pioneering surgery, confirmed her death in a statement on Friday and hailed her as an "inspiration."
