Olympics figure skater aged just 15 has failed a drug test, the International Testing Agency (ITA) have confirmed.Kamila Valieva helped the Russian Olympic Committee to gold in the team event on Monday but has since received a test result from the Russian Figure Skating Championships on Christmas Day.Her sample returned positive for trimetazidine, a banned heart medication, on Tuesday, which prompted an automatic ban from the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA).Valieva successfully appealed that and was then allowed to continue competing at the Beijing Games, but the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have now lodged an appeal of their own. They want the matter to be "expedited as quickly as possible" with the teenager set to compete in the women's single event next Tuesday. After announcing the failed drug test, the ITA released a short statement on the matter. It read: "The IOC will exercise its right to appeal and not to wait for the reasoned decision by RUSADA, because a decision is needed before the next competition the athlete is due to take part in (Women Single Skating, 15 February 2022)."Want to be on the ball with all of the latest football news?Well then sign up for the brilliant Daily Star football email newsletter! From the latest transfer news to the agenda-setting stories, get it all in your email inbox - don't miss a thing. It only takes a matter of seconds.Simply type your email address into the box at the top of this article and hit 'subscribe'.And that's it, job done.
