The summer of 2020 has been unlike other summers Queen Elizabeth II has spent in her 68 years of reign. The Coronavirus outbreak in the United Kingdom not only forced to Royal family to cancel all the summer engagements but it also led to the Queen and Prince Philip to quarantine and lockdown at the Windsor Castle. With the Queen's official birthday approaching, the traditional Trooping the Colour will be taking a beating. But it isn't following the suit of other royal engagements of the summer. 

Devoted readers of my corner of the internet, of which I'm certain there are at least two, all of whom by total coincidence just happen to share my surname and are also my parents, will recall a story I wrote last month about how the Queen is keeping busy while in isolation at Windsor Castle. Specifically, she's riding horses every single day, Vanity Fair reported, as well as dressing up for dinner with her husband and quarantine companion, Prince Philip.

The Queen has her official birthday on 21 April, the day she was born in 1926, but also a second birthday is celebrated in June when the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony is held. However this year, due to the coronavirus lockdown and the government restrictions on large gatherings, Her Majesty will be replacing the celebrations with a 'miniature version' held at Windsor Castle, where she is currently staying.

Even Queen Elizabeth II needs some fresh air. The 94-year-old monarch was spotted for the first time as she self-isolates at Windsor Castle amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Queen has been pictured for the first time since the beginning of lockdown after heading to Windsor Castle to isolate. Her Majesty, 94, was seen enjoying a horse ride in the grounds of the castle over the weekend, one of her favourite activities since she was a child.The Queen was all smiles as she headed out with a 14 year old Fell Pony named Balmoral Fern while at the royal residence.
