Why is Ruth Davidson going to the House of Lords?

unelected chamber following the election on May 6. She will sit in the Lords after serving as constituency MSP for Edinburgh Central in the Scottish Parliament since 2016.

Davidson also served as regional MSP for the Glasgow region before she topped the poll in the capital. The former Scottish Tory leader was named in the Prime Minister’s dissolution honours list in July last year.

She led the Scottish Conservatives from 2011 to 2019 but stepped down after Johnson became Tory leader, citing political and personal reasons for the move.

During First Minister's Questions today Nicola Sturgeon teased Davidson about heading down to the Lords, however her attack on the Tory Holyrood went a bit far for the Presiding Officer after he told her to.
