Charles Ingram
Charles William Ingram (born 6 August 1963) is an English novelist, computer repairman, and former British Army major who became known for being accused and convicted of cheating on the television game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2001, after winning the maximum prize of one million pounds. Following a lengthy trial at Southwark Crown Court, he was convicted on a single count of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception. He was convicted of an unrelated insurance fraud in 2003, and ordered to resign his commission as a major by the Army Board.

The man behind the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire coughing scandal has described the show that portrays his crack at the big bucks as "horribly cringeworthy." ITV's Quiz depicts the attempt by Charles Ingram to cheat at the hit quiz show in 2001 by having someone in the audience cough on the right answer.

Now Charles, portrayed by Matthew MacFadyen, has poured praise on Quiz and said that reliving the scenes was "horribly cringeworthy" for him.
