Core by Clare Smyth and Hélène Darroze at The Connaught.It’s a particularly sweet moment for Smyth, who opened her first solo restaurant in a chi-chi corner of Notting Hill in 2017 after 10 years running the kitchens of three-starred Restaurant Gordon Ramsay. “This definitely means more, for sure,” Smyth told the Telegraph. “It was always my goal to see if I could win three Michelin stars by myself.”Smyth’s food is as experimental as it is enjoyable, with a £145 tasting menu showering the diner with signature dishes that have become instant classics.

A Charlotte potato topped with herring and trout roe, or a lamb-braised carrot studded with salt-and-vinegar crisps are typical of Smyth’s revelatory approach to the sort of British ingredients.
