West Ham United will play Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League semi-finals after thrashing Lyon 3-0 on Thursday night.The Hammers came into the second leg of their quarter-final in France level at 1-1 and had to weather some early pressure from the home team.
But they took control by scoring twice in six minutes towards the end of the first half.Craig Dawson headed in Pablo Fornals' corner at the near post before Declan Rice’s deflected shot found the bottom corner following a poor clearance from the Lyon defence.
Things got even better after the break when Jarrod Bowen was given acres of space to arrow a low shot into the bottom corner.
Hammers keeper Alphonse Areola was forced into making a good save at full stretch and Lyon spurned a good chance from a corner, but in truth West Ham were never really troubled.David Moyes’ side will play Eintracht Frankfurt over two legs for a place in the Europa League final after the German side stunned Barcelona 3-2 at the Camp Nou.
