West Dunbartonshire has the highest homeless death rate in Scotland, according to new figures.National Records of Scotland statistics released today reveal the region had a rate of 196.3 deaths per million of the population in 2020.The death rate for those experiencing homelessness in West Dunbartonshire has spiked from 37.2 in 2019 – a five-fold increase.Nationally, the figures show an estimated 256 people died without a home of their own in 2020 - a rise of 40 on the previous year.Almost 80 percent of these deaths were male with the majority being under the age of 45, and more than half were linked to drugs.The report includes a monthly breakdown which shows the number of deaths were consistently higher during the months of May to
