A University Challenge team has been brutally mocked after thinking Govan was an 'island in the Firth of Clyde ' Fans of the hit quiz show couldn't believe it when The Exeter University team gave their answer about Govan, while also managing to butcher the pronunciation of the well known Glasgow area.
The team, who were taking part in a quarter-final match-up against Imperial College London, pronounced it as Go-Van while replying replied to host Jeremy Paxman.Jeremy had asked them: "The village of Lochranza is the site of a geologic unconformity that helps confirm Hutton’s principle [of unconformity]."On which large island on the Firth of Clyde is it located?"The right answer to the question is the Isle of Arran but Exeter got it badly
