UK weather: Temperatures to jump to 16C after Brits freeze in record lows

Forecasters are expecting a massive 39C swing following last week’s record lows, which even saw the River Thames freeze over for the first time in 58 years.The coldest UK temperature for 65 years was recorded at Braemar in Aberdeenshire last Wednesday, when the mercury dropped to -23C.The cold snap even turned the 98ft-high waterfall Kinder Downfall, in Derbyshire, into a ­slippery climbing wall.But by later this week experts reckon we’ll be basking in 16C T-shirt weather in the south of the country.Met Office meteorologist Becky Mitchell said: “As an ­island, we are very susceptible to sudden and significant changes in weather system and temperature.
