On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Reeves explained that the show would have been set a year prior to the events of The Batman, which follows a younger, less experienced Bruce Wayne (Robert Pattinson) in his second year as the Caped Crusader.The Cloverfield helmer said that the series would have drawn inspiration from the neo-noir crime drama Prince of the City, in which New York City narcotics detective Daniel Ciello (Treat Williams) reluctantly investigates corruption in his own department at the request of theUnited States Justice Department.
