UK weather forecast: Warmer Atlantic air boosts temperatures to 19C after record chill

Britain is set to briefly heat up after record lows for September saw minus temperatures over the weekend. Monday will see the introduction of warmer Atlantic air pushing the northerly wind aside, meaning temperatures could reach 19C in the southeast.

But the rise will only be short-lived, with 50mph winds, heavy rain and temperatures dipping back down to normal for the time of year as the week progresses.

The Environment Agency, meanwhile, has issued four flood alerts and one flood warning today for England. BBC forecaster Darren Bett said: "As we head into the early part of the week ahead we're going to find some higher temperatures across the whole of the UK, but it will be turning more unsettled as well.
