After a week of heavy rain Brits now face a wintery cold snap as temperatures plummet to as low as 5C. Weather charts show highs of just 8C in the south on Friday morning, a day after they peaked at 19C yesterday afternoon.
Met Office forecaster Aidan McGivern said today will begin with a "chill in the air" for central and southern Britain as ground frost makes an appearance.
And morning temperatures will remain in single digits across the country. The dip is thanks to a freezing north westerly wind blowing in from the Arctic, which will remain through the weekend.
