Snow and Arctic winds are forecast for next week with three 500 mile-wide 'Atlantic storm vortexes' set to hit the UK. The wet weather conditions could also cause floods in parts of the country, forecasters said.
Three inches of rain are forecast over the next week in the Midlands, two inches in the South and an inch in the North - with Scotland due to experience some snow too.
Forecasters say that 15 days of 60mph gales are expected this winter. And 60mph gusts and three inches' rain are due from the vortexes tomorrow, Wednesday and Saturday, with gales continuing into half-term next week.
Washouts are also due, with 50mph gusts in the west from later tomorrow, 60mph in the south from Wednesday and more widespread gales from Saturday.
