More persistent showers will blight summertime Britain today and tomorrow, forecasters say. The Met Office reminds Brits the yellow weather warning for gales remains in place until 4pm today but, afterwards, it'll still be blustery and grey for most regions.

Rain will be at its heaviest across northern England on Monday and gradually move eastwards. John Hammond, a former weather presenter for the BBC, wrote on his blog WeatherTrending: "As showers fade, there’ll be a fresh and bright day or two for many, before the next area of low pressure trundles in from the Atlantic. "Rain will be focussed across northern areas of the UK.
