Two of the biggest travel insurers suspend or restrict new cover due to coronavirus outbreak

Insurer LV announced on Thursday it has stopped selling travel insurance with immediate effect as a result of the coronavirus outbreak .

Customers with insurance already in place will continue to be covered, however, the provider has put a stop to new policies until further notice.In a statement on its website, LV said it has paused the sale of travel insurance to new customers - otherwise it may have had to ramp up its prices.It said: "We considered a number of different options, such as excluding cover or significantly increasing prices for new customers.

We strongly believe this temporary measure of pausing the sale of new policies and focusing on our existing customers is the right decision." And another major insurer, Aviva, announced
