TSB has announced plans to close a third of its branches over the next 12 months. A total of 164 branches are at risk of closure - with 848 employees expected to enter consultation on the back of it.
Debbie Crosbie, chief executive of TSB said a "significant" number of customers are now banking digitally. However the bank did not comment on plans to move any colleagues into digital roles. "Closing any of our branches is never an easy decision, but our customers are banking differently – with a marked shift to digital banking," Crosbie said. "We are reshaping our business to transform the customer experience and set us up for the future.
