Topless Linwood man adopted stance of professional fighter namesake when challenging cops

A barechested man with the same name as a professional fighting champion claimed he only swaggered up to cops and swore at them was because his drink was spiked.Paisley Sheriff Court heard shirtless Connor McGregor, of Carradale Place in Linwood, was staggering around swearing.Defence agent David Nicholson told how McGregor, 23, had “drank to excess” on October 26 last year when he shouted, swore, made derogatory remarks, adopted an aggressive stance and flailed his arms towards police officers.Procurator fiscal depute Amber Feeney told Paisley Sheriff Court: “On Monday, October 25, the accused had been out drinking with friends.“Around 00.15 on October 26, a call came into police regarding the accused.“Police were informed McGregor was intoxicated and topless.“Police attended Pegasus Avenue, and saw the accused stagger towards them with his arms outstretched and he began shouting ‘I’m not f*****g talking to you.’“Police got out of their vehicle and the accused calmed considerably however, after time, he became aggressive again and began shouting, ‘f**k off.’“Police noted McGregor’s behaviour to be extremely erratic and he continued to shout at police, ‘F**k off c***s.’“The accused continued with the usual profanities and tensed his arms and began flailing his arms at officers.“At this point handcuffs were applied and the accused was arrested.“When cautioned and charged, he replied, ‘No, do I f**k.’” Don't miss the latest headlines from around Renfrewshire.
