ski slope was the Milk Tray advert. Chocolates were delivered by an impossibly handsome man, skin tanned from the sunlight bouncing off the snow, after he’d conquered a few mountains.
Martini was another advert based on the slopes, from which I spun a fantasy adult life – the glamour was total. Women wore glossy lipstick and fur coats and were called Anouska, and everyone wore shades.
Only the men skied, mind you. The women seemed to hang around waiting for chocolates or booze.I never missed Ski Sunday. Eddie the Eagle was more likeable-boy-next-door than heart-throb, but the thrill of watching him soar gave me goosebumps.
