Hull Crown Court heard that Addinell had downed 24 bottles of beer before brutally attacking the woman during a drunken argument in which the couple reportedly threw drinks over one another.Addinell, who was jailed for 18 months, admitted assaulting the woman, causing actual bodily harm, in Goole, West Yorkshire, on June 21, 2019.Cathy Kioko-Gilligan, prosecuting, said that those involved had all been drinking earlier in a pub.Addinell had drunk a 24 beers before an argument erupted between him and his girlfriend on board a boat that was moored up.He violently attacked her, reports Hull Live, standing over her and savagely punching her in the face six times before standing up and stamping on her.The attack was only stopped when a bystander intervened and pulled Addinell off her.

The victim was left unconscious, suffering bruises and swelling to her face. She was left afraid to go out alone and frightened to be out alone.Rachel Scott, mitigating, said that the injury suffered by the woman was not serious.It had been a "very toxic" relationship in which drink and drugs were involved. "He has addressed his drug and alcohol use," said Miss Scott. "He has done everything possible to turn things round."Addinell now has a new girlfriend and she had given birth to a boy only three days before he appeared in court.
