Supporting local theatre this Christmas is vital to helping them back on their feet.So says Ayrshire MSP Sharon Dowey who has visited the iconic Gaiety in Ayr to find out more about the challenges facing the stage industry.The Gaiety has been a key part of Ayr town centre since 1902 and has survived many difficult times.However, the Covid pandemic has been a whole new hurdle for the culture sector to overcome.But bosses at the Gaiety have continued to produce original films, livestreamed new shows and brought in over £300,000 for community groups providing emergency pandemic responses.
