These dramatic photos show the devastation caused by flooding in an East Yorkshire town. Residents had to abandon their homes in Snaith, East Yorkshire, after the River Aire burst its banks leaving houses submerged in flood water.
Many of the houses were built just a few years ago but, despite planners putting in measures to withstand up to 30cm flooding, some have seen water levels rise nearly to the ceiling.
More than 78 homes and businesses in Snaith and nearby villages have been flooded, and more have since been evacuated as the risk of flooding remains.
The region was battered by Storms Ciara and Dennis and was put on high alert by Environment Agency chiefs as Storm Jorge hit the UK this weekend.
